Hot Rod Magazine says this is the result of Nitrous bottles overheating in the sun


Damn. It looks like the home plumbing system did not have a pressure relief valve

  1. I remember back in the 1980's, some big name Pro Stock driver had a completely hidden nitrous system on his car.

    Only problem was the bottle blew up on his back down the return road after beating his opponent!

    Didn't do quite as much damage as the picture in your post, but was enough to bring the wrath of the NHRA down on him!

  2. The bottles have a pressure relief valve, I don't think this was from squeeze.
